Daughter Gloria and her husband, Mike try to whip up a party atmosphere for the parents. 2- Writing The President Upon learning that his "meathead" son-in-law, Mike, has written a letter of criticism to President Nixon, Archie becomes so upset that he writes a letter of his own in praise of Nixon. 3- Oh, My Aching Back Archie tries to sue for whiplash after a minor auto accident and seeks out a Jewish lawyer to fight the case for him. 4- Archie Gives Blood Mike shames Archie into being a blood donor, but Archie insists on knowing who the blood will be going to, retaining his suspicions that "black blood" is different from "white blood." 5- Judging Books By Covers Archie ridicules one of Mike and Gloria's friends for being gay. Ironically, Archie finds out he isn't, but one of Archie's tough, beer-drinking buddies is. 6- Gloria's Pregnancy Archie goes through the ceiling when he finds out that Gloria is going to have a baby and his son-in-law has no means of supporting the child. Archie's attitude finally goads Mike into getting an apartment, but, before they can move in, complications occur. 7- Mike's Hippie Friends Come To Visit Mike invites a young couple to spend the night at the Bunker house, but runs into objections when Archie finds out the visitors are not married. 8- Lionel Moves Into The Neighborhood Archie tries in vain to prevent a black family from moving into his neighborhood. The family turns out to be the Bunkers' friend Lionel Jefferson and his folks. 9- Edith Has Jury Duty Over Archie's objection, Edith accepts a call to serve on a jury hearing a murder case which may keep her away from home for weeks. Archie's fears are realized as the jury's deliberations begin to run longer than expected when Edith becomes the lone dissenting jurist. 10- Archie Is Worried About His Job Archie spends a sleepless night worrying because he thinks he's about to lose his job. But, when Archie is up worrying, the rest of the family has to be up worrying too. 11- Gloria Discovers Women's Lib Gloria discovers Women's Lib and winds up moving out of the Bunker household after an argument with Mike during which she demands that he treat her as an equal. With too much pride to go after her, Mike remains at the Bunkers, seemingly more concerned about his grades at school than the absence of his wife. 12- Success Story William Windom guest stars as Eddie Frazier, a wealthy friend of Archie's, whose arrival from Beverly Hills prompts Archie to organize a reunion of their old army buddies. But, successful as he is, Frazier reveals himself to be more troubled than he'd like his friends to know. 13- The First And Last Supper At the same time that Archie is circulating a petition to keep more black families from moving into the neighborhood, Edith accepts an invitation to have dinner with the Jeffersons. Archie tries to get out of the engagement by claiming Edith has sprained her ankle, but only compounds his situation when Lionel's folks decide to bring the complete dinner to the Bunker house. 14- The Saga Of Cousin Oscar The Bunker household faces a touchy and tragic situation when an unwelcome visiting relative dies in their home. And, after relatives fail to chip in enough money to cover the funeral costs, Archie has second thoughts about giving his least favorite cousin a proper burial. 15- Gloria Poses In The Nude Mikes best friend, a highly respected abstract artist specializing in nudes, comes to New York for a showing of his works and asks Gloria to model for him. 16- Archie And The Lock-Up Mike and Lionel participate in a student protest, but its Archie who winds up in jail. 17- Edith Writes A Song Cleavon Little guest stars as a crook who, following a robbery, breaks into the Bunker home to avoid capture by the police. The Bunkers uninvited guests end up involved in a family squabble about how the money from the family "pot" should be spent to set Ediths poem to music, or for protective measures against future burglaries. 18- Flashback: Mike Meets Archie While celebrating Mikes and Glorias first wedding anniversary, the Stivics and the Bunkers recall the traumatic day when Mike first met his future father-in-law. Archies and Mikes personalities clashed at first meeting, but the real turmoil began when Archie learned he was about to lose his little girl and gain a boarder. 19- The Election Story Mike and Gloria campaign for the liberal candidate in a local election, while Archie places himself in the opposing camp. 20- Ediths Accident Ediths honesty infuriates Archie when he learns that she left a note on a car which she dented, but which was unoccupied. 21- The Blockbuster Archie jumps at a $35,000 offer to sell the house to a black buyer, which ultimately causes controversy in the Bunker household. 22- Mikes Problem Mikes anxieties over upcoming exams cause marital problems between he and Gloria. Mike fears his impotency may be permanent even though his doctor believes that once his exams are over, he will return to normal. 23- The Insurance Is Canceled Archies day turns from bad to worse when, after being told he must lay off one of his men, he also learns the insurance on his home has been canceled. 24- The Man In The Street The nation gets a chance to hear Archies views on President Nixons economic policy when Archie is interviewed by a new reporter conducting a "man on the street" interview. 25- Cousin Maudes Visit The Bunker household is stifled when the flu hits them all, and Archies illness takes a turn for the worse when Ediths favorite cousin and Archies least favorite person comes to their rescue. 26- Christmas Day At The Bunkers Christmas day turns out to be a very unhappy occasion in the Bunker house because Archie is depressed about not getting his usual Christmas bonus. 27- The Elevator Story Archie tries to act nonchalant while trapped in an elevator with a neurotic secretary, a wealthy black lawyer, and an expectant Hispanic mother and her husband. 28- Ediths Problem Ediths erratic behavior puzzles the family and puts a damper on Archies and Ediths planned trip to a new resort. 29- Archie And The FBI Archie doesnt want to get involved when an investigator with the United States government comes to question him about one of his best friends and co-worker. 30- Mikes Mysterious Son Mikes past catches up with him when a young mother leaves her four-year old son with Edith claiming Mike is the childs father. Needles to say, the new addition to the family shocks everyone and Mike finds himself in hot water. 31- Archie Sees A Mugging Archie is the sole witness to a mugging, but tries to avoid getting involved by fabricating a story about the event. However, he finds himself in trouble with the police, the mugging victim, and the group he said was responsible for the crime, and finally attempts to eliminate his precarious position. 32- Archie And Edith Alone With the kids away on vacation, Archie and Edith are faced with being alone for the first time in many years. The Bunkers new freedom and privacy soon turns into friction and unhappiness, when Edith and Archie quarrel and Archie storms out of the house. 33- Edith Gets A Mink The whole family argues with Archie when he demands that Edith not take charity and return a mink cape she received from her wealthy cousin. 34- Sammys Visit In a rare moment, Archie seems to have set aside his usual feelings towards blacks when he opens his heart and his house to Sammy Davis, Jr. When Davis comes to the Bunker house to retrieve his briefcase which was left in Archies cab, chaos and comedy become the order of the day. 35- Edith, The Judge Jack Weston plays an emotional Laundromat owner who threatens to sue Archie for overloading one of his washing machines. Archie counters by threatening to sue him for ruining his clothes. To avoid going to court, the pair choose Edith to act as judge in settling the dispute. 36- Archie Is Jealous Ediths virtue is questioned and Archie fumes with jealousy when an old secret about Edith and her old beau is revealed. 37- Maude Archie and Ediths cousin Maude go at it again when the Bunkers travel to upstate New York to attend Maudes daughters wedding. 38- Archie And The Editorial After arguing about a television editorial favoring gun control, Mike corners Archie into going to the television station to demand equal time for his opposing views. The station manager finds Archie's views and logic so incredulous that he puts him on the air. Immediately following the broadcast, Archie gets a first-hand lesson about the possible need for gun control. 39- Archie's Fraud Archie didn't report his income from driving a cab on Sundays and now he's in trouble with the IRS. Archie has to see a tax examiner to clear up the problem, and when he overhears a sharp operator try to bribe an IRS official, he gets similar ideas. 40- The Threat The wife of Duke Loomis, an old air force buddy who saved Archie's life, comes to spend the night with the Bunkers and everyone is thrilled; but when the lady arrives they are surprised at what they see. It seems that Duke has remarried and Archie is very pleased with the new Mrs. Loomis, but she worries poor Edith. 41- Gloria And The Riddle A girlfriend of Gloria's poses a riddle with women's lib overtones that not only puzzles the family, but also stirs an argument about a women's place in society. Mike believes he has a modern, liberal attitude about women's roles, but when Edith solves the riddle, he realizes how unwittingly he had been conditioned to think that only men can hold certain jobs. 42- Lionel Steps Out Archie's bigotry boils over when he finds out that his 21-year-old niece, who has been visiting from Baltimore, is dating Lionel Jefferson. 43- Edith Flips Her Wig The Bunker household faces a crisis when Edith is arrested for shoplifting. 44- The Bunkers And The Swingers The Bunkers find themselves in an embarrassing situation when Edith answers a friendship ad in the swap section of a magazine and her new friends turn out to be "swingers." 45- Mike Comes Into Money Mike inherits some money and Archie hits the ceiling when he donates $200 to the McGovern campaign rather than giving it to Archie for room and board. 46- Flashback: Mike And Gloria's Wedding, Part 1 On the Stivic's second wedding anniversary, the family recalls how the wedding almost did not take place because Archie and Mike's uncle, Casmir, constantly disagreed on the wedding arrangements. 47- Flashback: Mike And Gloria's Wedding, Part 2 After many arguments and Mike walking out, it seems the problems have been ironed out to the point where the wedding will take place. Confident of getting the insurance money, Archie orders a new color set, only to have an insurance adjuster arrive at the house to question the claim. 49- Mike's Appendix Mike's emergency appendectomy precipitates an argument between Archie and Gloria regarding the proficiency of women doctors. 50- Edith's Winning Ticket When Edith finds some old lottery tickets that she has totally forgotten about, Archie hits the roof, claiming she was wasting money. However, Archie's attitude quickly changes when the family discovers one of the tickets is a winner; but there is a catch; Edith claims the tickets don't belong to her. 51- Archie And The Bowling Team Archie is ecstatic when, after waiting six years, there finally is an opening on the most prestigious bowling team, the Cannonballers, and he is asked to try out. 52- Archie Goes To The Hospital Archie is bedridden with a very painful backache and Mike is sure it is psychosomatic because every time someone at work mentions that things are going fine without him, Archie's pain gets worse. The doctor, however, thinks Archie needs more care and immediately sends him to the hospital for tests and treatment. 53- Oh Say Can You See Archie is concerned about getting old, but an encounter with an old buddy convinces him that looks aren't everything. 54- Archie Goes Too Far Archie's narrow-mindedness gets him in trouble again, but this time even Edith turns against him. A lost magazine and a found poem starts a family feud on the right of privacy, provoking Mike, Gloria, and Edith to move out of the house. 55- Class Reunion When Edith learns that an old beau is going to be at her high school reunion, she decides to attend. Gloria suspects the worst after Mike's once-a-week job of tutoring a curvaceous college cutie suddenly becomes a twice-a-week job, at her apartment. 121- The Little Atheist As Thanksgiving dinner gets cold, Archie's and Mike's tempers get really hot. This time they are locking horns over the soon-to-be-born baby Stivic's religion - or possible lack of it. Archie insists that his grandchild be raised as a Christian, while Mike insists that the decision about religion be left up to the child. 122- Archie's Civil Rights Things go from bad to worse for Archie when he is mugged and it is he -- not the mugger - who ends up on trial. Archie becomes the confused and very angry defendant when the police discover he had possession of what they consider to be an illegal weapon during the mugging. 123- Gloria Is Nervous Pregnant, nine days overdue, and feeling unattractive and unloved, Gloria takes out her frustrations on her well-intentioned husband.
